About Southern Scotland

Scotland generates more renewable electricity than it consumes, predominantly from wind, which means wholesale prices frequently drop to very low or negative levels during windy periods – creating significant opportunities for battery owners on smart tariffs. The Scottish Government’s Home Energy Scotland programme also provides additional support for energy efficiency and renewable installations.

The battery charges overnight at 9.5p and powers your home during the day, avoiding the 34.9661p daytime rate. The saving is the difference between what the stored energy would have cost at the day rate and what it cost to charge overnight, allowing for charging losses.
